R-Value Comparison
The thermal resistance of the Koto building systems are the most energy-efficient, with an R-value of 7.12 (kW/m²/kW).
The lower the R-Vale numbers, the poorer the thermal resistance; therefore the space will require a large electrical demand to provide adequate cooling. The higher the R-Value, the smaller the electrical motor; therefore, less energy is consumed.
In a masonry building the heat of the day is stored in the substrate releasing heat to the occupants during the night. To sleep in comfort or operate businesses, buildings constructed from masonry require large-capacity air conditioning to cope with this stored and intrinsic heat.
